The “Wall” debate continues: A fence is a different type of wall

This is how dumb the “Border Wall” debate has become when Press Sec Spicer is arguing (with visual aid) that a fence can be considered a wall. There’s no doubt a fence or a wall is built to be a deterrent to help someone understand to “Stay Out” but wasn’t a “fence” part of the original argument in that is can be cut, scaled, crawled under?

Too think a solid wall could be built across the US/Mex is just crazy when you just put geography into the equation and yes a fence WILL be needed in certain areas, but mind you, Congress has allowed funding for fencing since 2006 with outrageous cost estimates attached.

However to spend a good portion of a daily presser to debate the Media on how a “wall” can be defined as grasping at straws especially when the brick/mortar notion that helped lead candidate Donnie to Election Day victory failed in the latest budget and will become a constant twitter reminder whenever an illegal immigrant is apprehended – PB/TK

President Donald Trump will not build the 35 to 55-foot-high concrete wall on the U.S.-Mexico border that he promised Americans during his campaign but rather a 20-foot high steel fence, said White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer Wednesday.

Spicer argued with reporters that fencing should be considered a wall and is good enough to show the president is already delivering on his border security promises.

“What I’m telling anybody is that the president said he was going to build the wall and he’s doing it, and he’s using the best technology,” Spicer said during a White House press briefing where he showed reporters images of steel fences being built on 40 miles along the border.

“Are those photos of fences or walls?” one reporter asked. “There are various types of walls that can be built,” Spicer said. “This is a down payment on what the President is going to prioritize in the 2018 budget that starts October 1st.”

I hate the whole ‘100 days’ notion

A POTUS serves 1460 days in a term, yet we focus on the first ‘100 days’ as a standard that will speak for how those remaining days will go… That’s bullsh*t.

The Media’s love affair of a POTUS’ first ‘100 days’ is nauseating but it’s really the candidate’s fault for their exhaustive reporting. No I’m not mocking POTUS Donnie’s first 100 days. No I didn’t mock POTUS Barry’s first 100 days. But pundits eyes are rolling in the spin of offense/defense for their favorite son.

Yep, think about how many candidates have made the claim of what they plan to accomplish in those ‘100 days’ and how many never hit the mark even with both Congressional Houses in your pocket.

Yes a POTUS can accomplishment many things in ‘100 days,’ big or small, but it’s those issues they pushed on the campaign trail that has a pundit’s focus. Hell, Hannity kept a ticker on his FOX show of “Promises Broken” for POTUS Barry’s first ‘100 days.’ Was it fair then? Is it fair now?

So who do we blame for this trend? Well we gotta go back to #32, Frankie Roosevelt because he is the originator of all this hoopla.

POTUS Frankie came in with a breathe of fresh during the Great Depression; people were orgasmic of a new face, new idea, a constant smile, and yes he pushed many plans in those with the backing of a Congress that would do anything. And right there is the reasoning of the media madness of a POTUS’s beginnings.

It’s like a new puppy; they make you happy when you are sad, they cheer you up and make you feel warm. And a new POTUS is just like that; new ideas, lots of (ass) kissing that makes people want to go out and buy/sell/trade that makes business owners have a new skip, but just like a new puppy, a new POTUS can shit on the rug one too many times that you become glum and want to rub their nose it.

OK that might be a bit extreme, but then again that’s what Media (sorry majority of people don’t get their news from Media any longer it’s all commentator and pundit driven).

Candidate Donnie’s promises of ‘yuge’ accomplishments that will happen in his first ‘100 days’ have u-turned as those countdown now that he is POTUS. Yeah everyone can dream, but when people put their hops in your dreams you better produce.

That’s not saying POTUS Donnie hasn’t produced, yes he has, some for the good/bad and that’s par for the course but does he have a handicap too which I’m talking about Congress?

You would think with Congress and POTUS sharing the Party logo they can do whatever their hearts desire, but some within the party refuse to give and too me that’s a good thing. We do not need good little boys and girls that fall in line because it’s the right thing to do. No, we need people that will question and work with opposition to get things accomplished; keeping a hardline stance only creates gridlock and we’ve had way too much of red light sitting.

I expect a POTUS to work with ALL Congress to accomplish task, to be a referee, to be an arbitrator, to wheel and deal, so if that person needs to flip-flop then so be it.

So take your first ‘100 days’ and shove it. Get to work, Get it done. Be the dealmaker you claim to be, ya got 1360 days left on the job

I watched some of POTUS Donnie’s Trade Conference on CNN this afternoon and I can’t complain about his Infrastructure Initiative, I mean as long as it doesn’t falter as POTUS Barry’s “shovel ready” plan did. And when I say falter I’m talking about how poorly executed POTUS Barry’s project was even though in the end there were some results.

Hey $1 trillion bucks is YUGE! But can we, the taxpayers, afford to pony up more cash?

Yes all construction jobs are short term solutions when any type of government is involved, but what do we get as an investment?

Sure these projects put money in someone’s bank, puts food on the table and keeps the roof above one’s head, but in the end, it’s still a short term solution in helping a struggling economy as those paychecks being spent ain’t gonna equate to a $1 trillion payout.

I complained under POTUS Barry’s plan that patching potholes and duct taping bridges only goes so far and how, especially in the Northeastern US, we must put massive effort into rebuilding a wobbly electric grid and push towards fiber-optic networking. That and I’m a proponent of nuclear energy as well (Shush with coal is the future talk).
Yes I’m giving POTUS Donnie some props for his Infrastructure idea and of course his visual aides were fantastic.

Yes breaking down and cutting red tape makes sense, but there has got to be Government oversight of sorts because, well, I wanna make sure the cement wasn’t mixed with the consistency of silly puddy. And of course these short term jobs, whether it be a highway repave or a wind turbine and yes even building a wall, are employing American workers and those companies bending those rules are properly fined or contract cut.

Sound ok to you POTUS Donnie? Give me a shout and we can discuss this further than the “YES” folks surrounding you

If POTUS Donnie thought people would throw roses at his feet and erect monuments in his likeness he really needs to check his ego at the door. The man who loves the spotlight but not any of the negatives gets a bit whiny when someone mocks him.

For eight years, Liberals put up and laughed with all the Obama jokes, mocks, cartoons and negative imagery by Conservatives.. Wait scratch that because not all that disliked POTUS Barry were all Conservatives, some were just plain old full of hatred folks. Yet there is a big diva difference between Barry and Donnie. Barry was able to give/take a mocking, not too mention hit himself as well. Yet Donnie, it's all image and image is his moneymaker or to use legal terms; intellectual property rights and he has everything from his name, likeness, hell even his hair copyrighted. So I'm not surprised that when a 17 year old San Francisco girl created a website that allows people to hit POTUS Donnie with kitten paws that he set to the lawyers to her doorstep demanding a "cease and desist" order.

Yes the right of publicity, commonly known as personality rights, is in full action by POTUS Donnie's lawyers and anyone who uses it in the negative will get a knock on their door. Honestly, POTUS Donnie should call his ol' pal Gov Arnie about the move from private citizen to public servant when it comes to right of publicity.

Gov Arnie had a few right of publicity lawsuits as Cali Gov. The quickest to come to mind was the lawsuit against an Ohio bobblehead maker who designed a bobblehead in his likeness; suit, tie, bandoleer and machine gun. Gov Arnie sent the lawyers to control the situation and in the end both sides settled on two conditions; the bobblehead can stay sans machine gun and a portion of each sale goes to charity.

However, I don't see POTUS Donnie allowing anyone to profit positively/negatively off his likeness be it bobblehead or booklet. Come to think about it, Hillary has bigger balls then POTUS Donnie because I do not recall Hill or Bill suing anyone on right to publicity because if they did Dick Morris would be a very poor individual.

When the bar was set so low for POTUS Donnie's first joint session speech before Congress and into our homes, an individual plus Media alike, has to admit it was pretty good. Hey, I listened with a lax of expectation but he did, what so many POTUS's prior have done, they controlled the pep rally.

The only thing missing was rally towels swirling from those in attendance with a fate cheer of "yes we can" in the background.

He started strong by knocking the increase in racism and anti-Semitism over the last few weeks and yet I'm surprised Liberal Media didn't take a page out of Conservative media by stating how long it took him to address the horrible racist killings in Kansas.

And then it turned into yet another vague, but heat warming, campaign stump speech with the continued regurgitated boasts of building walls, repealing/replacing Obamacare, cutting taxes but increasing spending and so on. Again as I stated, these speeches by POTUS Donnie and presidents past always lack the substance needed to keep skeptics at bay.

Yes job creation should be the #1 priority for any POTUS, but there are jobs in the US right now that are going unfilled, why? Because they are the low paying jobs no one wants, well except the illegal immigrants that are performing those duties as we speak, at least they have job security.

But my question on jobs is simple: As tech and automation ramps up, there will only be a small percentage of jobs available, how do we overcome the downfall? Sure one can say "well someone's gonna have to fix the machines." True but the 1 machine= 1 repair guy ratio doesn't quite work. "well someone's gotta program the machine" Yes but how often does one need to program/reprogram a machine? It ain't a daily gig.

Mike Rowe put out a FB post too which he is still working hard to bring vocational programs to schools as the need for those blue collar jobs dwindle and replacements are far from expectation. He attempted to work, or shall I say communicate with POTUS Barry during his terms and little movement happened. Rowe even went out with 2012 candidate Willard Romney in hopes people will catch on, maybe even get a few high school grads to head to VoTech school and still it seemed to stall.

Folks, the jobs are there, who wants to fill 'em is the problem.

But back to the POTUS/JS event...

As typical, these speeches last longer then they should thanks in part for to the "Applause" pause. What could be a 20 minute speech turns into 60 minutes. I'm telling ya, Congress must have buns of steel for the amount of squats they do to applaud. "Oh look he wiped his nose we must applaud and remind people to get a flu shot" Congress really needs the roller coaster safety bar across the aisles to keep people seated

Here's a question I have, when you say "American steel" are you talking US Steel or North American Steel, because there's difference in terminology. Yep North American Steel is that from Canada, US and Mexico, too which most of the Keystone/Dakota pipeline was already bought and transported to location a few years ago from..... Canada and Mexico. Do you really think Keystone is gonna ship those back for US Steel?

All in all, POTUS Donnie rehearsed well, stayed on course, and gave a few chuckles when off script, but he did what he needed to do, what all POTUS' do at this time of year, cheerlead the masses while giving as little substance as possible.

Sure we can debate all the times POTUS Donnie mocked POTUS Barry on Twitter for weekend golf trips, even though many were local trips with businessmen, celebrities and members of Congress yet doing the same, just his gold outings are 993 miles away.

Sure we can debate how Grampa Joe Biden charged the Secret Service $2,200/monthly in rent to use the cottage house next door to his Wilmington, Delaware home (2011-2016) in comparison to the $250,000/monthly rent POTUS Donnie is charging for a floor at Trump Tower.

Or how it costs roughly $180,000/hour to fly Air Force 1 and a single flight from DC to Palm Beach is 2 hours (or round trip equals 4 hours) and in 7 weeks in office the bill has run up to near $3 million and if we did some common core math and POTUS Donnie keeps that schedule, his first year weekend travel tally would be around $37 million. Now reports have had POTUS Barry’s air travel in 8 years at around $85 million…

Holy crap this is turning into a giant Common Core homework assignment and yes I’m ranting!

Point is STFU about how POTUS Donnie not taking a Presidential paycheck is offsetting anything he is doing because the math just ain’t there.

Does anyone get away to Camp David anymore to relax or has it just become a symbol of unused presidential luxury to taxpayers for upkeep?

I’m not thrilled about POTUS Donnie. I’ve got the same amount of enthusiasm for him as I did for Hillary Clinton, so really the expectation bar is set extremely low for me. Ok, my bad.... Over the past few months I've given MILO some praise for his First Amendment rights even though (by some research) to find that he is not a US Citizen. Now the accent didn't give it away, but it's funny that so many have taken his side even though he is basically mocking us without permit.

But while in our country, the law is the law and he's pushing the goalposts back every time.

MILO, yeah I know I spell in it CAPS but that's more for fun then giving real meaning, has pushed the limits and shown the hypocrisy of both the two major political parties. While one wants to shut him up yet calling for others of the same disdain to speak up, the other party praises him even though everything about him is against their mantra.

And then he fell off the edge of the envelope this week with his advocating sex with young teens. But remember, he's a provocateur that's what he is supposed to do; go to the edge and see who will follow. Yes, he's gotten well over his 15 minutes of stardom, but to keep that fame and spotlight you have to keep it going by poking further and hope the push back doesn't bruise.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your opinion) the push back could mean his career is on life support.

Just remember, James O'Keefe was the media darling after his ACORN video was released some time ago and soon after the complete uncensored video was released that showed his clever rouse. Even Andrew Breitbart stated he was conned by O'Keefe. And today O'Keefe is still making "documentary" videos that people buy into and never question.

MILO's diatribes aren't for everyone, it's all salt in the wound but the pain tolerance depends on who you are. It will be interesting to see of hierarchy of Breitbart stands behind their little opportunist or bows to their employees who have threatened to walk if he still keeps a paycheck.

Then again, how can you stand behind someone who wants to bring back the Jelly Bracelet craze? Come on, a whole forearm full of 'em while on Maher's show. No fashion sense from a gay man (yes that was sarcasm!)

A new era has begun… too offend & defend

Thus it has begun, what was once offensive now becomes defensive or vice verse as the partisan politicos dig their trenches and strengthen their keyboard bravery for the next 4 years. Somewhere Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow are getting fitted for their war kilts, reading the political battle maps and puckering up to blow on their political bagpipes.
Wait what am I saying, Rachel Maddow would never wear a kilt (dress).

I admit I am not a fan of celebrity Donald Trump, never was and probably never will be. Now as President Donnie, hey if he does something I agree with I will give him applause as well as give him heat in disagreement. And after the first week, he is batting a respectful .300 with me. Honestly if I agree/disagree 100% with a President and/or one party that means I am not listening and unfortunately that’s part of the issue with the voting electorate, they don’t listen.

No scratch that, they listen but only to the partisan talking heads they are tuned in to and it’s they who determine the good/bad.

With that said, he is the legal POTUS and I will respect the office. I was not a complete fan of Obama or Bush43; I liked Bush43 a wee bit more then Gore, but I still voted for Kerry because of “alternative facts” by the admin. Yes I voted for Obama twice because I couldn’t trust McCain especially with Palin and Romney just had that wimp factor that plagued Bush41 even though I have respect for Speaker Ryan.

Confusing ain’t it?

Yes I will call him President Donnie, just as I called President Bush43 “W” from time to time and lord knows that annoyed many of my friends on the Right. I will call him President Donnie just as I called President Obama the “Big O” which received chuckles from both sides of the aisle, but let the interpretation of “Big O” be that for you to interpret.

But after the first week the luster is beginning to wear off. No not from President Donnie but from the annoyance of “respect the authority” from the Right. Yes of course people should because so many on the Right did for the past 8 years as well. OK yes the Left had little respect under 8 years of Bush43 but that was in response to the lack of respect by the Right for Pres Billy and ..and…. oh I give up.. People just need to grow the F*ck up.

President Donnie is nowhere near President Reagan and I so hate that comparison, especially after only one week. But I would say after Week #1, he is closer to imitating President Teddy Roosevelt, he just lacks that conservatism activist TR was known for yet makes up for it in the grandiose persona and ever running mouth.
Hey they both are/were knee jerk reactionist and thankfully TR didn’t have a FB/Twitter feed.

For all of the pompous narcissistic egomaniacal temper tantrum claims the partisan Right placed on Obama, their Left counterparts have equally placed on Donnie. The only difference is that Donnie’s gang, namely Ms Kellyanne Conaway has stated that those pundits that mocked Donnie should be fired.

Talk about being a snowflake. Does someone need a safe spot or a woobie?

Look I ain’t crazy about Executive Orders at any level, but I admit I like the EO’s on Lobbying, Freezing the Federal workforce, Increasing border security (minus the ‘Wall’), Strengthening the Military, ISIS, and Made in USA Pipelines. Those are pretty simple and broad, but just because I say I like doesn’t mean I’m in full agreement. Yes I’m still out on the TPP, NAFTA, Dakota pipeline, and reorganizing National Security Council. Hey if Steve Bannon gets a seat then so should I.

Yet it comes down to the disposition of Donnie. I’m positive when the cameras and reporters aren’t around he’s kicking back with a Coke, eating a cheeseburger while watching re-runs of Roseanne with the family. He needs to stop the gloating and move on. Everyone knows you won the Electoral College and that’s the count that matters. However he’s an image guy and I have yet to hear anyone call him a loser for finishing second in the popular vote. A good guess as to why Donnie is bringing up the "illegal voter cost me the popular vote" argument may have to coincide with his Southern border & Deportation talk so come 2020 he might not lose the popular vote again.

Yes four more years of Liberty Valance delusional fawning parasitical sycophants of supporters that are convinced that everything they do not agree with is fake news. Oh Boy!

My call for a National ID movement?

I admit that my fellow co-workers and I partake in many strange oddly humorous conversations in the office too which I am not always the ringleader. Sports, movies, food, and of course politics may run the daily gambit in an agreeable manner that would make O’Reilly and Stewart vomit. There’s a certain decorum and opinionated respect that our society has lost that works with my co-workers, but then again we’re usually shooting rubber bands across the office in attempt to break one’s concentration.

During a recent rubber band battle the conversation broke from the mountainous amount of college bowl games and how ESPN has savaged college football to the Russian hacking of US elections. Now we’ve agreed that Russia did not hack our voting machines even though Media has tried to persuade everyone as such. We’ve concluded that the “hacking” goes beyond the description of the word, and yes, Russia did attempt to influence the outcome which is no different than our own government has done worldwide for decades.

Gotta love cubicle political talk.

But as we joked about vodka induced Bolsheviks hiding in Northern Siberia punching their Commodore 64, the topic changed to those who did not vote and how the “dead” were still more patriotic by voting. OK, kinda sort of appeared to vote, but the topic led into a Voter ID discussion that turned into sales pinch for National ID.

I’ve had a belief in a National ID card for an extremely long time. Hey we’re a nation of convenience; everything must be simple so why not have one card that has everything from your Driver’s License to Passport to Health/Medical info scanned to it.

Now some may say I’m talking about the “REAL ID” from a few years back, well it’s that and much much more.

A quickie reminder for those who do not remember what “REAL ID” was about. Way back in 2005, the House passed the “REAL ID” Act in response to help secure the nation after 9/11. Basically it was a glorified Driver’s License, yet after it passed it went nowhere because many States tabled the idea as they did not want to force their residents to have to pay for reissuing a new card.
When I say glorified Driver’s License, I’m not lying. Your current DL carries simple info: Full name, Address, Birth date, Gender, DL#, Photo and Signature. However the REAL ID had that info plus valid Birth Certificate, Social Security # and proof of Legal Citizenship/Temporary residence.

Too me, that ain’t good enough. Why not add more like North American Passport, Medical and Health info, Voter ID, hell even Conceal/Carry license?

Don’t cry about corruption or “big brother” databases when the majority of people already have their credit card info on the iPhone to quickly pay for their Cinnamon Dolce Frappuccino Blended Coffee so they don’t have to fumble for change or a credit/debit card and remember or snap-chatting while squatting over a diseased toilet at their local restaurant on a dinky unsecured guest “wifi.”

Here’s a hypothetical. Image if you’re pulled over by the police and the officer runs your National ID card, he can know immediately if; you’re on medication, have a health issue such as Autism or pacemaker or even have a Concealed/Carry permit. That officer could then determine why you might be acting irrationally and handle the situation with a bit more caution.

Now I stated North American Passport because anyone who has traveled north/south of border knows what a pain it can be, especially heading south. Traveling to either Canada or Mexico can determine close to 4 different types of passports and other vital info.

Hell just traveling to Canada you’ll need 1 of 4 types of passports and that depends on the mode of transportation but if a resident of Washington, Michigan, Vermont, or New York all you need is an Enhanced Drivers License.

Heading to Mexico is a different issue as time limits and mileage come into play. If you’re crossing the border by vehicle as a tourist for less than 72 hours and staying within 18 miles of the border, you’re free to travel. However going beyond the “18/72” by car or plane well get a Passport card and possible Passport book (depending on destination) or you got some ‘splainin’ to do! And good gravy if it’s business travel you need a Passport book plus special forms on you at all times for 30 days only. And don’t even ask what you need if you plan on staying longer.

Can’t we just have easier means of verification?

Here’s the kicker, while I was selling this National ID plan I had to remember that the folks I work with are a mix of: politically Conservative or Independent, concealed/carry card holders, former military and a few millennial too which all liked the notion. Damn I need to run for Congress.

I understand a National ID is a pipe dream and honestly an easier way to fix Voter ID fraud is a simple digital thumbprint since many feel a form of Voter ID is an infringement on ones privacy and voting right.
